SaaS, Not an easy task at all!

I just looked at Abraham Sultan Appendra's founder article regarding the various issues that a software provider should confront when it migrates its software to SaaS model. Amoung these task we can count:

  • Multi-tenancy: supporting many client using the same installation
  • Provisioning new customers in seconds
  • Ongoing support for your own "virtual data center"
  • Billing and usage metering in flexible way
  • New features with maximal uptime
  • Security
I would like to emphasis several conclusions in the article that we found to be true: "Architecting a true SaaS architecture is a non-trivial task. Be wary of anyone that tells you otherwise. The “SaaS plumbing” can take as much as 40% to 70% of your application development time and money only to build a rudimentary platform" and "Don’t get trapped into thinking that you can architect SaaS into your application and forget about it. SaaS is not just an upfront expense. Maintaining the delivery model part of your application architecture will require a disproportionate (and costly!) amount of effort"

Well, that is why we are here for: RockeTier SaaccesS enables you taking this step and moving forward to the SaaS model without even recompiling your software...
It's time to take an action to make Your Software as a Service. Now.

What the hell is SaaS?

Everybody is talking about SaaS. How wonderful is it, How it will cut enterprise and SMB expances and how it will generate steady revenue stream to software vendors.

What the hell is SaaS???

Well we had the same question in mind, so we gathered several great information sources we collected over a period of time to help you understand why it is so great:

1. A great clip from InfoClipz that will provide you a quick introduction to SaaS:

2. A great article from Max that explains why SaaS saves your from licensing issues, including over licensing, under licensing and ineffective use of your IT services.

3. An IBM brochure that explains why IBM recommands SaaS as the right strategy to its partners , and why IBM is aligned to this direction.
